RACEDAY UPDATE: PETER CRAVEN MEMORIAL

BELLE Vue are all set for a huge start to the season with the Peter Craven Memorial Trophy kicking off proceedings at the National Speedway Stadium tonight (Monday, 7pm).

A host of the sport’s top stars will be competing for one of the sport’s best individual trophies in what has become the traditional opener to the campaign.

It’s also a meeting that has a unique climax as five riders contest the semi-final for the last three places in the Final, where they join the top three scorers to make it six riders in the decider.

Aces CEO Mark Lemon said: “Over the years it’s become a meeting that everyone wants to see at the beginning of the season, and also it’s one that the riders want to race in. “They can do all the training and bike preparation that they want to over the winter, but there’s no substitute for competitive action on-track… and we know this meeting will be very competitive!

“The six-rider Final gives the event a unique conclusion, and of course there are very few tracks nowadays where you would be able to do that in safe conditions.

“The Czech Golden Helmet at Pardubice is the other high-profile event that we see, and it’s interesting that Jason Doyle has such a good record in both meetings!”

As announced over the weekend, Adam Ellis steps into the line-up to replace Fredrik Lindgren who is unavailable due to personal reasons.

A late alteration on Monday sees Leicester’s Sam Masters come in for Niels-Kristian Iversen, who unfortunately suffered concussion in a crash at King’s Lynn on Sunday.

Tickets for the Peter Craven Memorial, which culminates in a five-rider semi-final and six-rider Final,  remain on sale from: https://www.bellevue-speedway.com/tickets . Tickets will also be available from the stadium on the night.

For those supporters unable to attend, the event will be livestreamed with our colleagues at BVTV. The stream will get underway from 6.30pm and passes can be purchased from https://www.bvtv.live .
