“WORLD CLASS” BEWLEY SECURES WIN

BELLE VUE boss Mark Lemon admitted his “gamble” paid off in a wonderful 46-44 win at King’s Lynn.

The ATPI Aces snatched the victory in Norfolk with World No.4 Dan Bewley winning a thrilling last heat decider at the Adrian Flux Arena on Monday night.

Bewley narrowly won the race from home star Chris Harris with club captain Brady Kurtz coming from the back to get the crucial third place.

Lemon admitted it was a huge roll of the dice to use Bewley in the finale. He said: “I had a tough decision for heat 15. Jaimon Lidsey was riding quite well and had popped out the start a couple of times to pick up two nice wins.

“But Dan had speed all night but just couldn’t capitalise on it. I thought it was a gamble off gate four. That wasn’t working great. We just knew Dan had speed. Dan is world class for a reason.

“We saved the best for last. I do feel a little bit for King’s Lynn. They had three bike stoppages and a few crashes.

“That didn’t help their scoreline. You take what you can sometimes and you ride your luck.”

The ATPI Aces suffered a big defeat at Ipswich just five nights earlier. Lemon is delighted to get that loss out of the system.

There was also special praise for Zach Cook’s massive heat 14 race win.

There were also solid performances all around from Jaimon Lidsey, Norick Blodorn, Jake Mulford and Tate Zischke. Kurtz was outstanding all night and unbeaten prior to the final race.

He added: “A massive turnaround after the performance in the KO Cup. Obviously we’ve ironed a few things out.

“It was a first win in Belle Vue colours for Zach Cook and at such a crucial time. That’s probably a big weight off his back.

“I guess the longer it takes to get that result, the pressure begins to mount. But he went out there and did a great job in heat 14.

“When you have got the bikes under you that are performing it makes life a lot easier.

“Speedway is a very basic raw sport but it can be complicated sometimes.

“Credit to the boys. It was hard to accept being hammered by Ipswich. But there were reasons for that.”
