BELLE VUE COLTS will look to finish the home National Development League campaign on a high with a bumper afternoon of racing on Sunday, starting at 12pm.
The JR Ashworth Colts face a double header as they first take on the Sheffield/Scunthorpe Steelers side at noon, with that match followed by the visit of the Edinburgh Monarchs Academy.
Having missed out by six points at Owlerton, and 10 points in Edinburgh, two aggregate bonus points are also up for grabs at the National Speedway Stadium.
Colts co-manager Graham Goodwin is aiming for a strong showing. He said: “Six points are on offer on Sunday, and they could make a big difference to the league table.
“Our season has been blighted by injury, illness, rain-offs and rider availability, but we’d really like to finish on a high at the NSS, ahead of our remaining away trips to Middlesbrough and Leicester.
“Unfortunately we’ve been hit again by the loss of skipper Freddy Hodder for this meeting, due to Glasgow putting in a re-arranged rain-off after we’d planned the meeting. But we’ve got strong guests with Dayle Wood stepping in against the Steelers and Ben Morley against Edinburgh.
“Double-headers can be a massive test of mental strength and stamina, but the lads love racing the NSS track, so they are all up for it.
“Thirty heats of league action is also an attractive proposition for fans, so we hope to see plenty of support for the boys.
“It’s the last chance to see any racing action at Belle Vue this season, so our message to supporters is to come down and get one last meeting in before the winter.
“We haven’t got a league title this year, but the ATPI Aces do boast the world’s No.2 and No.3 and that bronze medallist Dan Bewley came all the way through from the Colts No.7 racejacket to the World Championship rostrum.
“We think that’s something to be proud of and we invite fans to come and celebrate another successful season with us on Sunday.
“It’s a long time until next March, so don’t miss out on one last chance to see some 2025 action.”
*There’s an excellent value £20 admission price for adults for the two meetings.
