BELLE VUE boss Mark Lemon said his side “came on strong” to get a vital win at Birmingham.
The ATPI Aces took a comfortable 48-42 victory in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership at Perry Barr on Monday night.
Norick Blodorn was the hero of the night with one of his finest performances for the Manchester club with paid 12.
It pushed the side joint top of the table with Ipswich and Lemon said: “The boys just kept on working tirelessly on their set-ups and they came on strong when it mattered.
“We came here to do a job and I was really impressed with the boys.
“It hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for us in the past at Birmingham.
“Norick being fit certainly helps. Tate’s performance shone through tonight which didn’t really reflect in the points he got.
“But it’s a team effort, we were solid and that’s very important when we start coming to the business end of the season.
“This is when we really need to step it up. We have some crucial meetings ahead of us now, I don’t think we have any easy meetings left.
“We have Ipswich and Sheffield coming up which will be fantastic meetings at the National Speedway Stadium.
“At the end of the day it does always come down to four meetings in the play-offs.”
Blodorn was the star and was unbeaten in his four programmed rides before blowing his maximum in the nominated race.
Lemon added: “It was good to see Norick deliver such a strong performance because he has been under the weather. He’s proved a point that he can actually produce a strong display.
“It was unfortunate he had to go out in heat 15, not off the best gate. It was a tough race and he ran a last.
“As we say in the team, four-ride maximums don’t count!
“There was a great spirit in the camp, everyone worked hard together. It’s gearing up nicely.
“The boys do need to find a next level because Ipswich are next at the NSS. This is the time to turn the heat up.”
Blodorn admitted that he is sad that it was likely to be his last meeting at Perry Barr.
He said: “I had bike troubles in my first heat which meant I had to change everything.
“Maybe the stress got me focused. For me it was a really good day. We won, that's the main thing.
“I’ve missed a few meetings and not been 100 per cent so it’s good to finally be back and scoring big points.
“It was epic. I dropped the clutch and the bike just reacted. It was fun because the bike was doing all the work.
“I didn’t really care in heat 15 what gate I was on. But paid 12 I can’t complain.
“I still can take many positives. I’m so happy to be back and enjoying riding my bike.
“To be honest it’s pretty sad to be here for the last time. I think this is the best place for me in British speedway. To lose this place for me I will have such brilliant memories.
“Now looking forward to Ipswich at home. We’ve pretty much secured our play-off spot so it’s important to keep pushing for better form.”
