ACES BID FOR MOMENTUM

BELLE VUE boss Mark Lemon admits that “memories mean nothing” ahead of a crunch clash at Leicester tonight (Thursday).

It’s the first time the ATPI Aces have returned to the East Midlands since securing a 14th league title in the Grand Final last autumn.

After a quickfire double over King’s Lynn, Lemon is keen to keep up the feelgood factor at the Manchester club.

He said: “Obviously we have good memories of our last visit to Leicester. But for this year’s title race, memories mean nothing now.

“We’re in the here and now. We’ve all started from zero again and we want to keep a momentum going after two wins on the bounce.

“There’s no doubt we are still settling down, especially the younger element of the team. But there are signs of rapid progress which is encouraging.

“Leicester is another really big test for us. They have kept the strength of their side from last year.

“Like ourselves, there’s only been minor changes to the line-up. They have started the season very well with a double over Birmingham.

“It’s always a tough place to go. To be fair, you can probably say that about all the Premiership clubs now, there’s no easy wins, that’s for sure.

“We know the quality of the Lions. They have a very solid look about them and it’s going to be a night when all our boys find a strong level.”
