BELLE VUE captain Brady Kurtz admitted his side were back to their best after a huge win over King’s Lynn.
The ATPI Aces produced their best performance of the season to beat the Stars 57-33 at the National Speedway Stadium on Monday night.
Kurtz admitted it was the perfect response to a difficult start to the campaign with double defeats at the hands of Ipswich in the KO Cup.
The Aussie said: “It’s nice to have a good win at home. We all needed this. Last week at Lynn it was cool to get some points on the board.
“We had a little bit of luck on our side. But tonight we’ve really shown what we can do. Back to business as usual hopefully.
“It was important to get the win at King’s Lynn. After the Ipswich defeat we were all doing a lot of thinking.
“It was nice that we did turn it around a little bit. Tonight was definitely back to our best.
“I got covered in s*** in heat 1. It’s so difficult if you don’t make the start. I almost went back to the van and changed my suit. But I didn’t have another suit so I was even more p****d off!
“You’ve got to take a second sometimes and be happy with that. A few good wins after that.”
The biggest cheers on the night came for battling races from Jake Mulford, Norick Blodorn and Zach Cook.
Rising Star Mulford scored an impressive paid eight and added: “It’s been a very long time coming. At the start of the meeting I looked at gate four and I didn’t think I was going to do anything off it.
“Once you get in a flow of things it’s much better. I have previously struggled with that. Hopefully after tonight I can carry on my progress.
“The past few years have been quite hard really. I started to get a bit down about it. Now it’s finally all coming together.”
Bewley was in a different world all night and ended with the paid maximum.
He said: “It was a good result for the whole team. It was a good solid job from everyone.
“I thought the last race win at King’s Lynn a week ago put us in a Super Heat. It’s always cool to race with Bomber (Chris Harris). I definitely made hard work of that race. But that was an important win.”
Team boss Mark Lemon was satisfied to see the younger element of his team produce really fighting displays.
He said: “I think a lot of credit goes to these guys, there’s pressure on as defending champions.
“We didn’t get off to a good start. They’ve shown a lot of resolve and determination to turn a big negative into some spirited performances.
“I was concerned coming into tonight because you look at King’s Lynn and there’s not many weak links. I knew it was going to be competitive.
“But the boys did exceptionally well. They delivered strong performances right the way through.”
